2023-2024 Flu Shots will Contain Update Influenza A (H1N1)pdm09

The FDA's Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee (VRBPAC) met earlier this year to select the influenza viruses for the composition of the influenza vaccine for the 2023-2024 U.S. influenza season. The CDC Director adopted the recommendations on June 27, 2023. 

The flu vaccines for the 2023-2024 season will contain an updated influenza A (H1N1)pdm09 component. The availability of the flu vaccines may vary depending on the vaccine production method and supply chain. You can check with your health care provider or local pharmacy for the availability of the flu vaccines in your area. You can also use the VaccineFinder tool to find a flu vaccine near you.

The recommended timing of vaccination is similar to last season. For most people who need only one dose for the season, September and October are generally good times to get vaccinated.
