From Renter’s Alliance
Are you a victim of an excessive rent increase?
Rents throughout Montgomery County have been skyrocketing. If you have received a rent increase more than 5.8%, Renter’s Alliance encourages you to send a copy of the renewal notice to Renter’s Alliance of Montgomery County. Renter’s Alliance works with county officials to provide examples of increases. The County Council is considering rent stabilization bills to address excessive rent increases in the coming weeks and renters receiving these increases are urged to provide examples.
Report excessive rent increases to the Office of Landlord and Tenant Affairs by calling 311 (240-777-0311) or emailing OLTA.INTAKE@Montgomerycountymd.gov. The Renters Alliance also urges renters who received rent increase notices before May 15, 2022, which exceeded the county's Voluntary Rent Guideline of .04% to report them to the Renters Alliance at Info@RentersAlliance.org, and to the Office of Landlord and Tenant Affairs at OLTA.INTAKE@Montgomerycountymd.gov.
